Failure to respond during this time frame will forfeit their opportunity to proceed as a Mentorship Recipient and Dotdash Meredith may select an alternate Mentorship Recipient if time permits.

Each potential Mentorship Recipient must also sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Publicity/Liability (“Affidavit and Release”), provide written consent for and pass a background screening, and sign additional documents as required by Dotdash Meredith for their future participation as a confirmed Mentorship Recipient. Prior to being confirmed as a Mentorship Recipient, Mentorship Recipient may also be required to submit clearances and releases for all people, locations, and media/content used within their Finalist video and materials. Dotdash Meredith may select an alternate Mentorship Recipient, if time permits.

  • Mentorship (Up to five (5) awarded): Each Mentorship Recipient will receive an award package up to $250,000 (with the exact amount received to be determined by Dotdash Meredith, in their sole discretion, based on the Mentorship Recipient’s business’ needs and goals) awarded in the form of:
  • Video consultations with Mentors and/or key representatives across Dotdash Meredith including business intelligence, research/insights, creative, and marketing experts;
  • Introductory meetings with Mentors and/or editorial leads across print, digital, video and social;
  • A media package customized to the Mentorship Recipient’s business’ critical needs. Packages may include advertising space, email newsletters, affiliate marketing, etc.

Participation in meetings with Mentors and/or Dotdash Meredith representatives will be on dates and times mutually agreed upon by Mentorship Recipient, Mentors, and Dotdash Meredith. During the meetings, Mentors will provide hands-on counseling to Mentorship Recipient. Total duration and locations of meetings to be mutually agreed upon by Mentorship Recipient, Mentors, and Dotdash Meredith.

Mentorship Recipient acknowledges and agrees that their active participation in the aforementioned activities is a key requirement of the Mentorship Program.  If at any time during the Mentorship Program a Mentorship Recipient does not actively participate or becomes non-responsive to the Mentors, or Dotdash Meredith, as determined by Dotdash Meredith in its sole discretion, they will forfeit their opportunity to continue as a Mentorship Recipient and Dotdash Meredith may select an alternate Mentorship Recipient if time permits.

No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any Mentorship element except at the sole and absolute discretion of Dotdash Meredith. Additional Mentorship details and information to be provided at the time of Mentorship notification.

ALL TAXES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MENTORSHIP RECIPIENT. The Mentorship Recipient will be required to provide Dotdash Meredith with a valid social security number or business EIN before the Mentorship can be provided for tax reporting purposes. An IRS Form 1099 may be issued in the name of Mentorship Recipient or their business for the actual value of the Mentorship received. The actual value will be determined by Dotdash Meredith based on the final package of services delivered.

Mentorship Recipient may be able to deduct (as advertising, consulting or other ordinary and necessary trade of business expenditures), for tax purposes, some or all of the actual value of Mentorship received and reported as taxable income to them on IRS Form 1099-MISC.  Mentorship Recipient should consult with their personal and/or business tax advisor to fully comprehend the tax consequences for their personal and/or business circumstances.

Mentorship is non-transferable, with no cash redemption or equivalents of non-cash portion of Mentorship or substitutions except at Dotdash Meredith’s sole and absolute discretion. All Mentorship details not specified in these Application Terms will be determined in Dotdash Meredith’s sole and absolute discretion.
